What is it about?

The publication traces the chronological development of Osogbo urban landscapes and the roles of Osun Grove UNESCO World Heritage Site in the urbanisation process. This was carried out through monarchical historiography and a prognostic landscape model of the city was produced being archetypal for the Yoruba nation.

Why is it important?

The work is unique as a major discourse on Yoruba urbanism that incorporates urban groves that have spiritual significance in the relationships of traditional humans with the environment.

Perspectives

I am persuaded that this work properly situates cities as cultural spaces about the biocultural identities of their dwellers.
