What is it about?
This article draws attention to the way that trans-identification can be used to evade psychological issues; including anxieties around being perceived as gay. In such a case the recent 'Memorandum of Understanding' puts a responsible psychotherapist in the difficult position of either effectively colluding with gay conversion therapy or risking accusations of practicing trans-conversion therapy.

Why is it important?
There has been a recent exponential rise in the number of trans identifying young people. If the psychological aspects of this phenomenon are not understood and worked with effectively, therapists risk presiding over a catastrophic blunder in which gay, autistic and/or body dysmorphic young people receive damaging, unnecessary medical treatment.
