Why is it important?

Concepts about gender identity, family structures, and relationships start forming at a very young age. Schools need to provide information about the diversity of these topics to elementary students in order to help affirm and support members of the LGBTQ community and those who care about them.

Perspectives

This article is important as it shares data from over 3000 teachers who answered our survey and describes some common experiences shared by elementary teachers around GSD-inclusive education. It also offers practical advice and suggestions for those interested in being more affirming in their practice.
