What is it about?
Certainly, the spill has once again raised serious concerns worldwide about the likely environmental impact. Such oil spills can cause disaster to marine ecology besides the health hazards to the human population. Analyses of sorption mechanisms revealed that an oil deposit disappeared from the fiber surface after a certain time interval

Why is it important?
The electrospinning process provides a desirable characteristic of the design of oil absorbent. Nanofiber network has the predominantly small pore size that allows the oil to be absorbed through the inter and into pores of the 3-D Nanofiber absorber.
Perspectives
This analysis revealed that the small fiber diameters and pore sizes can extensively enhance oil sorption capacity.
