What is it about?
I describe a case report of a previously healthy traveller contracting urinary tract melioidosis from Thailand, likely from a douche.

Why is it important?
Melioidosis is a highly resistant bacterial disease that is not covered by usual empiric therapies against urinary tract infections and its possibility should be taken into account in travellers to endemic areas.
Perspectives
I was struck by the severe illness caused by an innocuous malfunction of douche and violent spout of water.
