Why is it important?
The research described aimed at bringing character education to ordinary schools by helping ordinary teachers of language and literature (i.e. teachers that had no special training in philosophy) to engage the students in thinking about moral issues and develop deep understanding of moral vocabulary.
Perspectives
The research was, in a way, an attempt to bring "the important issues" to school and find a place for them in the already overloaded schedule of the teachers. For this end, we worked closely with the teachers to develop the supporting material and we used literature that they were going to use anyway. So, what we tried to achieve was to change the way literature is taught but without bringing extra loads to the syllabus.
