What is it about?

Can we talk about an African middle class. Can we quantify its size and economic importance? This article proposes a simple method to define middle class boundaries in Nigeria and analyze its main characteristics. Overall it is found that in the last decade the size of Nigerian middle class hasn't changed much and stayed put around 10 percent of the total population. This middle class group is characterized by living predominantly in urban areas, having formal jobs and by having comparatively higher levels of education
