What is it about?

This article is about the 2014 podcast series Serial. This podcats marked a real turning point for pdocasting. it was probably the most famous podcast of the time and was being cited as being a catalyst for change. This article takes a deeper look at the sucess and places into context; suggesting that it's sucess was due to hifts in technology, audience engagement and also the remaining influence of legacy media.

This article was the first published work on Serial and uses the show as ameans to explore questions about the state of podcasting at that point in time. My argument is that it's sucess was totemic of the changes, which were more a network of actors that brought podcasting to the mainstream.
