What is it about?

Many people understand love between people, but when people express love for activities, experiences, ideas, and objects, it is less clear what that kind of “love” really means. This study sought to discover which major categories of love exist that go beyond love from person to person, and understand whether those types is love make life subjectively better for those who experience them.

Why is it important?

In a world where people are becoming more interested in finding personal well being, it is useful to understand which things add to it, and which might not.

Perspectives

People are express love for things, but it is useful to know whether those things bring temporary feelings of happiness, or more long-term well being and satisfaction with the experience of life. Also, if experiencing love for activities, experiences, ideas and objects brings meaning to a person’s life, then investing attention and energy into them may be worth it.
