What is it about?
Exponential increase in plastic waste is one of the major threats to the environment. Pyrolysis reaction is capable of converting higher hydrocarbons to simpler ones's which results in liquid plastic fuel. The obtained fuel can be used as an alternative to diesel to run automobiles.

Why is it important?
The obtained plastic oil after completion of pyrolysis reaction is cheap and sustainable. The properties of the plastic oil are as per standard when compared with diesel. Our findings show that levels of emissions from compression ignition engine are higher when fueled with plastic oil.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. With incorporation of emission reduction techniques to diesel engines along with plastic oil will reduce the human dependency on fossil fuels.
