What is it about?
King-Devick Test baseline scores correlated with multiple portions of the ImPACT test (which is a widely used concussion test). Sport specific differences were noted between football and soccer players regarding their performance on these concussion tests.

Why is it important?
There are multiple baseline concussion tests available screening cognition, vision, reaction time, balance, symptoms, or all of the above. Many concussion tests take 20-30 minutes to perform and cannot be performed immediately after a suspected concussion (on the sideline). The King-Devick test showed correlation across multiple portions of the ImPACT test and can be performed on the sidelines immediately after a suspected concussion and only takes several minutes to complete.
Perspectives
It is interesting that different sports demonstrated different baseline scores across multiple tests. This could lead to more sport specific norms for testing and warrants additional research into varying rehab protocols across different sports. Additional research needs to be performed testing across other sports.
