What is it about?
This paper concerns the reliability of materials, which are used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). A flicker drift is one of the defects, which especially appear on the liquid crystal display with a recent mode. We clarified that Photo-excitation, charge generation, charge accumulation, and charge leakage, all these occurrence affect flicker drifts.

Why is it important?
As far as we know, this is the first paper focusing on “generation” of charges, which cause the defects of LCD, inside the liquid crystal cells upon light irradiation.
Perspectives
I hope that this article provide not only a new viewpoint to interpret LCD evaluation but also a direction to improve the quality of LCD.
