This is about a methodology for analyzing and interpreting collected data. Activity Theory is an established model for education and for designing HCI interactions, however, is very rarely used for analysis of data, particularly data related to collaborative design.

Why is it important?

Through the use of Activity Theory, we were able to find patterns and strategies used by different groups of designers and contribute to the understanding of collaborative design. In addition, the findings of this work helped us to develop a new Expanded Activity Theory for Design that will be published soon.
