What is it about?

Biopsies of ten patients with severe genitourinary syndrome of menopause taken before and 3 months after the non-ablative ErYAG laser therapy were analyzed and compared.

Why is it important?

Our findings show very significant increase in epithelial thicknesses, confirming the effect of non-ablative ErYAG laser in restoration of atrophic vaginal tissue. It is also important to notice that all observed atrophy parameters like pain, dryness, irritation, VHIS score, pH value, maturation value and FSFI scores showed significant improvement in trophism and in the quality of life of these patients.

Perspectives

I hope this article will add an important piece of information to the body of evidence for for assessment of safety and efficacy of non-ablative ErYAG laser treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause.
