As teamwork has become prevalent in science, it is crucial to look at factors contributing to the success of scientific teams. One important factors is effective team leadership such as behaving in a transformational way. This paper offers advice on how to lead scientific teams effectively.

Why is it important?
Scientists are increasingly working in a collaborative manner. Teamwork han enhance work motivation and job performance in the scientific work context. However, teams must be led appropriately in order to ensure effective teamwork.
Perspectives
I hope that this paper helps leaders of scientific teams such as professors or principal investigators to understand the importance of effective team leadership to enhance success in the scientific work context. This is especially important, as leaders in academia oftentimes did not receive a formal leadership training.
