Why is it important?
The book Strategic Conundrums is the follow-up of the book Challenges and Strategy: Rethinking India's Foreign Policy by Amb Rajiv Sikri. Reading the two books together provides a beginner's insights into the important actors and developments of India's foreign policy over the years.
Perspectives
The book follows a conventional actor-wise analysis of countries, focusing on India's relations with various individual countries. This approach, while useful, has overrun its purpose and it is pretty evident in the book. A simple thematic rearrangement of the contents of the book, rather than an actor-wise analysis, would have done greater justice to the purpose the book sets out to do. Moreover, the book does not address several important developments and actors of India's foreign policy
