What is it about?
Here we provide a review of the previously described vocalizations produced by bottlenose dolphins. We include standardized visual representations of the sounds and sound files where possible.

Why is it important?
This is a fantastic reference for both new and experienced scientists that study marine mammal acoustics.
Perspectives
Oftentimes we are naming vocalizations based on our own perception of the sound. This ends up with disagreements and confusion between research groups that may be describing the same vocalization but have given them differing names. We promote including quantitative descriptors of recorded sounds along with both audio and visual examples.
