What is it about?
This article derives a new coefficient of relationship of two symmetric alpha-stable variables when alpha in the interval (1,2] based on covariation. Its numerical value ranges from −1 to +1.

Why is it important?
In statistics the relationship between two random variables is measured by covariance or correlation. However for non-Gaussian stable distributions when α < 2 the covariance or correlation is not defined.
