Why is it important?

Much linguistic theory is based on introspection and/or qualitative analysis of individual examples, generally deprived of context. This volume illustrates the need and effectivity of additional, quantitative data in order to provide independent evidence for qualitative hypotheses.

Perspectives

This volume addresses this matter in various subfields of linguistics, namely grammar, syntax and phonology.
