What is it about?
The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) is one of the most prestigious public university in Mexico, currently it has more than 95,000 members. This article presents a textual metafunction analysis (Halliday and Matthiessen 2014) of BUAP's regulations which are meant to officially represent the ethical stance of the entire university community.

Why is it important?
We think that the findings of this analysis could provide an insight into the nature of such regulatory texts as well as providing guidance towards their improvement as the university moves towards the new 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (Naciones Unidas 2018).
