What is it about?

How speakers of Vietnamese omit terms of address and reference during conversations, especially in casual contexts. This practice was studied from a pragmatic perspective, which argued that the phenomenon should be viewed as communicative strategies employed by Vietnamese speakers, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Why is it important?

This is an empirical study with data collected from Vietnamese television dramas and discussed from a pragmatic perspective. Therefore, it provides some practical insight into omission of address terms in daily communication practice.
