What is it about?
The acquisition of scalar implicatures (SIs) like 'some' may produce logical or pragmatic responses, and this can depend on the task employed. We show that in a oral Truth Value Judgment task that learners give more pragmatic responses than logical responses.

Our findings add to a growing literature on this topic and expand our understanding of how second language learners perform in a range of different tasks.
Perspectives
Our hope is that readers gain a greater understanding of scalar implicatures and how second language learners perform in comparison with how they perform in their first language.
