What is it about?
Even seemingly subtle changes can have a significant influence on children's development. Hence, when introducing robot nannies, this should be done with the utmost care. This commentary denotes some of the challenges robot nannies have to overcome, namely: taking into account child development, providing robot nannies with senses, and taking context into account. Parallels are drawn with other branches of artificial intelligence, which illustrates the problems robot nannies have to face. This makes one wonder: robot nannies, future or fiction?

Futurists keep assigning robots properties they not yet have. Although every day industry shows us how powerful and useful robots are., they show significant limits on fields natural to humans. This article calls for a realistic stance on robots.
