La traduction de l’argot des jeunes Égyptiens

What is it about?

We therefore want to study the slang of youth Egyptians and its impact on the translation process. First, we will briefly highlight the differences between French slang and Egyptian slang, their status in society and the difficulties of rendering the latter into a French language-culture. Secondly, we will examine the translation into French of some components of the slang of youth Egyptians to know how the two languages considered manage this slang with their own linguistic and cultural systems. The examples of analysis relate to Women of Karantina, a novel written by Nael Eltouky, and its French translation, bearing the same title, made by Khaled Osman. The study shows that due to linguistic and cultural differences, the translator opted for different translation strategies.
