What is it about?

Our study gathers the testimonies of different dubbing agents working at the first dubbing company in Peru. We demonstrate how their ideas and actions about their responsibilities during the dubbing project help building quality control as well as a sense of agency.

Why is it important?

Dubbing is a key component of film and visual culture in Latin America. Our findings show the strategies applied by an emerging dubbing company when adapting to an already consolidated market in other countries of the region.

Perspectives

My co-authors and I were really excited when we got the opportunity to talk directly to the people working at Torre A, the dubbing company of this case study. We feel we have contributed to future studies on how audiovisual translation is opening the way to new markets and professional practices in different countries.
