What is it about?
Regulatory T cell (Treg) therapy can control unwanted immune responses. We investigated whether too much stimulation could have negative effects.

Why is it important?
There is a lot of interest in using genetic engineering to make the effects of Tregs more potent, this work shows that too much activity leading to a state known as "exhaustion" could have negative effects on Treg function.
Perspectives
This work was made possible by fantastic collaborations and used an extreme situation to create a "benchmark" of Treg exhaustion. The datasets in this paper can now be used as a reference to study Treg exhaustion in other contexts.
