What is it about?
USP7 is an important enzyme whose activity is tightly controlled in cells. Using advanced NMR techniques, researchers gained a rare glimpse into how the enzyme’s movements regulate its function. They discovered that a mutation linked to a rare neurodevelopmental disorder increases these movements, causing the enzyme to become overactive.

Why is it important?
USP7 dysfunction is linked to cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders. These findings reveal how altered enzyme dynamics contribute to disease and open new avenues for therapeutic development.
Perspectives
I hope our findings help shed more light on USP7-related diseases and lead to better ways to diagnose and treat them.
