A statistical analysis of 26 million STEM based teams shows that gender diverse teams are more innovative and higher impact than same gender teams and the performance advantage of gender diverse teams increases the greater the gender balance on the team.

A gender diverse team is 14% likely to create a hit innovation than a same gender team.


The work is important because it shows that men and women innovators and scientists do higher impact work when working together, and that the bias towards same gender teams may be inhibiting teams from reaching their potential.
