What is it about?

Interleukin-17A signaling plays important role in autoimmune diseases and host-defense. The balance between good and bad effects depend upon the 14-3-3zeta presence in the cells. 14-3-3zeta interacts with TRAF5 and regulates its activity. The 14-3-3zeta-TRAF5 axis is a new regulation that helps us understand how IL-17A signaling works.

Why is it important?

Instead of global inhibition, this new regulation will help design better IL-17A based-therapeutics.


We finding this regulation is very exciting. Not only it showed us how little we know about IL-17A signaling, but how IL-17A has diverse effects. We believe that this discovery will pave the way for better therapies targeting IL-17A signaling, and minimize the side-effects.
