What is it about?

The integrative design of radiation and scattering characteristics for communication systems is significant and in demand in various application scenarios. In this work, we propose a new solution to this challenge by drawing on discrete plasma units. The originality of this manuscript is that our proposed plasma structure can modulate the scattering patterns more flexibly and effectively (locally and/or globally tuning plasma units) while maintaining the synergism between radiation enhancement and scattering reduction.

Why is it important?

Our results not only improve the feasibility and flexibility of plasma-based solutions to the integrative design but also provide helpful guidance in implementing other tunable, reconfigurable, and multifunctional electromagnetic devices.

Perspectives

This work offers a more flexible and efficient way to implement scattering reduction and radiation enhancement simultaneously.
