What is it about?
We have explored particle arrangement and deposit shape for droplets containing mica particles in different liquid media, under electric field. Particles can arrange into strings and the deposit can deform in different directions, depending on the electric properties of the system.

Why is it important?
The cartography we obtained allowed to clarify some mechanisms involved in particle organisation and deposit shape under electric field. Indeed, these complex phenomena involve several physical effects such as capillarity, fluid flow, particle advection and of course electrostatic or electrokinetic interactions, not to mention solvent evaporation.
Perspectives
This work is the first step towards a new shaping process. It will help in creating a new shaping process in order to build structured parts using the principle of inkjet printing. This structuration, at a very local scale, will allow to obtain parts with improved electric, thermal or optical properties.
