What is it about?
The Lie group approach was used to reduce the Fornberg-Whitham equation (with the "peakon-like" kernel) to the second-order ordinary differential equation in new invariant variables. Some analytical and numerical solutions to that ODE had been found

Why is it important?
The new class of solutions of the Fornberg-Whitham equation is found different from usual traveling-wave one.
Perspectives
It was an attempt to look at the problem of solution of the famous equation from a another point of view.
