What is it about?

This activity aims to determine the lubricant contaminants, and the lubricating efficiency of lubricating oil diluted with various methanol-gasoline mixtures. It is believed that this paper will provide useful insights into the activities related to fuel dilution so that practitioners and researchers can select the optimal gasoline-methanol blend that has the least lubricating effect on the engine and engine oil.

Why is it important?

Properties of lubricants that were observed in this study to investigate the influence of bio-gasoline diluent over the properties of 4-stroke motorcycles engine oils were kinematic viscosity, flash point, density, total base number, total acid number, water content, and wear prevention characteristics. The observation was carried out following ASTM Standard Methods.
