What is it about?

Cost Minimizing of shell and tube heat exchanger problem using nontraditional optimization and simulation was discussed. The Shell and Tube Heat exchanger problem is optimized using 10 nontraditional optimization methods and is run for 20 trials for each method since the non-traditional gives the global optimum solution and the results are tabulated. The comparative result shows that in terms of consistency, minimum run time, minimum evaluation, and simplicity of the algorithm, the Pattern search algorithm has minimum cost.

Why is it important?

The Shell and Tube Heat exchanger problem is optimized using 10 nontraditional optimization methods and is run for 20 trials for each method since the non-traditional gives the global optimum solution and the results are tabulated. The comparative result shows that in terms of consistency, minimum run time, minimum evaluation, and simplicity of the algorithm, the Pattern search algorithm has minimum cost.

Perspectives

This validates that optimum bound geometry is safe and has the minimum volume. It is apparent that the Pattern search algorithm gives better results in terms of consistency, the minimum value in terms of time and cost compared to other methods.
