What is it about?
Learning to perceive and express emotions comes naturally to use, humans. However, children find it hard to perceive and distinct them amongst a full palette of similar facial expressions, behaviors, or situations. In our study we use the video game medium - a comfortable and familiar tool, to show, teach and encourage children learn the different emotions and in what situation each one is expressed.

Why is it important?
The current study is important, since it is inclusive - it is suitable for teaching children with special educational need, as well. The game of emotions encourages children to observe, think and select an emotion (in the form of an emoticon) that best describes a given situation screen. The game can be played on a regular computer, however, our intent was to be played in a new way - on an interactive floor on the ground. This allows more movement and involvement of the younger generation and retention of their genuine interest.
Perspectives
This article shows new insights in the way children view, react and reproduce human emotions. It was a great pleasure to work with various children groups during the research phase. It is our hope that game-based learning in new media (such as the interactive floors) can benefit bot younger and older generations.
