What is it about?

Our team has proven that in the search for bacterial symbionts of marine sponges that have the potential for biodegradation and bio-adsorption, they are generally sponges that have a slimy body surface in their habitat.

Why is it important?

The implementation media for bacteria obtained from marine sponges is in an extreme environment that has been modified to contain more than one type of PAHs at the same time containing several types of heavy metals according to ASTM recommendations.

Perspectives

Writing articles on applications of marine sponge micro symbionts is very interesting because it has many references as comparisons and the potential for topics that can be published is quite broad. The most interesting thing is that we found these marine sponges in the area of the Spermonde Archipelago, an archipelago that contains thousands of species of sponges. The Spermonde Islands are located in the province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, which stretches from the sea border of Pare-pare-Barru City in the north to the southern sea of the Selayar Islands in the Takabonerate area.
