Linearization of the Hamilton–Jacobi equation

What is it about?

Through a canonoid transformation the integration for the Hamilton-Jacobi equations is transformed into a two step procedure: the ftrst being a linear problem and the second a quasilinear one. Examples are given.

Why is it important?

This linearization was obtained by the authors as an ad hoc procedure.1 The Hamiltonization technique presented in this paper justifies this ad hoc procedure.
