What is it about?

With the great demand of photovoltaic market, crystalline Si thin film solar cells have attracted much attention due to their abundant and nonpoisonous source, their stable structure and high electrical performance, and large scale manufacturability, and low cost, however, low conversion efficiency induced by its weak absorption due limits its develop. In this paper, we discuss how to enhance the absorption in Si thin film solar cells by antireflection nanocone gratings through RCWA simulation.

Why is it important?

we address one point of view that the highest absorption enhancement can be achieved in nanocone grating where both antireflection and guide-mode resonance effect play an important role in crystalline Si thin film solar cells.
