What is it about?

Overdamped computer simulations provides a general view of the energy landscape of systems under the influence of spin polarized current. In this paper we simulate magnetic droplets to understand how resilient these structures are against thermal fluctuations. The energy barrier is one of the critical factors for evaluating the stability of magnetic droplets.

Why is it important?

Droplets solitons are one type of oscillator which could be used in spintronic devices.

Perspectives

The approach used in this paper can be applied to other physical systems were non-gradient dynamical terms can be removed by a proper chose of a rotating reference frame.
