What is it about?

Electrochemical arc machining, a novel hybrid machining process, has gained significant attention in recent years due to its combination of the benefits of electrochemical and electro-discharge machining processes, in addition to eliminating their limitations. Electrochemical discharge machining is used to machine difficult-to-machine materials, playing a vital role in a range of manufacturing activities, including ultra-precision machining of extremely delicate components with high material removal rates and accuracy.

Perspectives

This work aims to provide a comprehensive study on ECDM, clarifying the machining mechanism, importance, and limitations of the process. Theoretical and experimental studies were conducted, and developments achieved in this area have been examined. Effective process parameters and their influence on ECDM efficiency are detailed, considering different advancements made in the ECDM process with respect to the optimization approach and simulation methods.
