What is it about?

We have shown that by incorporating multiple acoustic fields into one underlying lens, a double vortex beam can be generated. Each vortex features distinct characteristics, enabling broadened capacities for biomedical ultrasound and acoustic communications.

Why is it important?

Underwater acoustic vortices are used in ultrasound treatment and communications. Their capacities were limited by the number of individual vortices in the acoustic beams. This work showcased the design of an acoustic vortex lens capable of delivering multiple vortices and controlling their properties.
