What is it about?

Entanglement was found in the context of quantum mechanics and attracts researchers in general for the new concept. A semiclassical entanglement is shown to appear even in a macroscopic system like a dusty/complex plasma. A pair of negatively charged dust particles form a system of uncoupled oscillators, which start to show the coupling and entanglement if the system is exposed to the external waves characterized by the low frequency dust acoustic oscillations.

Why is it important?

Recent advancement in the study of quantum entanglement, as was recognized as the Nobel prize in 2022, includes observations of the entanglement in a macroscopic world. The present study extends the concept of the entanglement to a classical system, a complex plasma also known as a dusty plasma, and finds a possible semiclassical entanglement as a coupled oscillator composed of a pair of dust particles.
