What is it about?
Compared to ophtalmic eye-drops, human tears are much more complex liquids, with a wide range of components. It is this complex mixture that gives tears the perfect thickness and ability to moisturize the eye, a design that is hard to replicate with fewer ingredients. We succesfully measure the difference between the complex human tears and different artificial tears.

Why is it important?
Our findings show the possibility of measure tiny amouns of fluid samples as human tears. This opens the possibility of measure tears coming from patiens with different pathologies, and look for differences among them. Moreover, through careful tuning, artificial tears can be tailored to meet specific needs, mimicking natural tears.
