What is it about?
Flow structures extracted from turbulence data are useful for understanding and modelling turbulence. Most methods for extracting such structures focus on energy-rich large scale structures. We present a method for obtaining a different set of structures important for flow dynamics, focusing on aspects of the flow that traditional methods tend to neglect.

Why is it important?
The methods we present allows researchers and engineers to investigate flow structures that might otherwise be hidden in turbulence data, which can be used to improve models of turbulent flows.
