What is it about?
We show that graphene-on-Ag electrodes can be used to explore the redox activity of molecular monolayers adsorbed to the graphene using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).

Why is it important?
SERS is a powerful tool to explore molecular processes near Ag, Au or Cu electrodes, but these typically fall short of many applications of electrochemistry, especially those using carbon, which is commonplace from electrocatalysis to energy storage.
Perspectives
We hope this technique can be expanded to many other molecules and processes on carbon electrodes.
