What is it about?

We presented an approximation to the entropy production for Brownian motion. The approximation stems from the well-known thermodynamic uncertainty relation. By applying a virial-like expansion, we provided a tighter lower limit solely in terms of the drift velocity and diffusion.

Why is it important?

We improved the previously established bounds to the entropy production in Brownian motion. Our improved bound indeed will converge to the actual value of the entropy generation in the system. It is worth mentioning that the convergence in the tight-binding regime is quite slow. Outside the tight-binding regime, the efficacy of our central result is reduced, yet it is able to provide a tighter bound than the standard TUR approach.
