What is it about?

Gas-particle interaction in multiphase flow is an important topic in the fluids physics field. However, mass transfer between gas molecules and particles lacked attentions in the past. We have shown for the first time that the potential influence of mass transfer in the gas-particle interaction. We have assume the Langmuir adsorption model on the particle surface and study the potential influences of gas adsorption on the gas-particle interactions.

Why is it important?

We first combine the gas adsorption theory with the study of multiphase flow. In space, it is a common case that gases and dust exist together. When particles have a moving speed relative to the surrounding rarified gases, the heating, and accelerating interaction in the multiphase flow happens. During this process, the gas adsorption will change on the surface of particles and the adsorption condition will react to the heating and acceleration of particles in the multiphase flow.


This study first considers the mass transfer between gases and particles in the multiphase flow. It may inspire more interests in the study of surface science in the multiphase flow.
