What is it about?
This book chapter is about the challenges faced by direct entrants when writing and completing assessments. It considers how, due to having been away from study for some time and returning to it entering directly into the later years of a degree they may struggle to understand what is expected of them.

Why is it important?
It is important because it highlights the areas where direct entrants may lack confidence and would benefit best from extra support and explanation to help them succeed.
Perspectives
The study for this chapter fascinated me because the direct entrants interviewed had a very different understanding of learning and academic culture to the one I expected them to have. I found this fascinating to show how this has changed over time.
