What is it about?

One lumen of the drainage is used for negative pressure application the other is used for intestinal feeding. A long spontanous transmural ruptur of the esophagus was treated solely with the novel drain device. No operation was required. Reason of the perforation was a bolus in a pseudodivertikulosis of esophagus.

Why is it important?

The drainage enables intestinal feeding and negative pressure treatment, simultanously.

Perspectives

Endoscopic vacuum therapy can avoid operative treatmentation of esophageal perforation. In future it might replace other treatment options.
