What is it about?
The penetration of wind farms into conventional grid system is on the rise. Due to the stochastic nature of wind energy, the grid network is subjected to disturbances during operation. It is imperative to proffer a tenet approach to tackle this challenge. This work investigated the effect of an embedded low pass filter timing of an energy capacitor system on the dynamic performance of the grid network.

Why is it important?
To help stabilize the grid frequency based on grid codes, in order to avoid shut down of grid connected wind farms.
